THE OLD PELICAN HOMESTEAD SIGNS IN NEW ORLEANS
THEY ARE FROM THE 1940"S
BACKGROUND IS HAND PAINTED ON PORCELAIN

There are more to come these are just some of the photos I am working with,
Because of the intense colors in Neon most of the photos needed to be colored balanced.

Worked most of the Thanksgiving Break doing any photo editing and photoshop work of some of the pics that I am posting on my website, In the photo gallery will be some of my own Neon collection as well as pieces that local in our area, or neon that just inspires me. In my graphic design page will be samples of my work. Here are some examples of the photos that will appear on my page.

About me...

About me is one of the first pages besides the homepage that the "viewer" will click to. I want this to continue all the elements that i am using to make this a collaboration of pages that come together to make one cohesive site. I also wanted a photo of me with a "neon" frame, to continue my theme along with a fun element!
here is what it looks like

the pages....

Well i think that i should also color code the links when clicked , user friendly is key :)
here are some adaptations to the Graphic Design page

NOTICE HOW THE "everything else" link will change like the others to fushia  instead of purple when clicked

this is how the Graphic design page turned out with a drop down menu- took the background off

i was thinking about my pages this weekend, I wanted to continue elements of design that would make it come together. So I am am using the same element of my name in diagonal to give that page some dynamic and also the same text elements, variations of the same colors and ofcourse the "neon" illusion aspect that I created for visual interest
here is an example of the basic design elements from page to page with the colors changing relying on page content.

humm...creating a background

Creating my background was a big decision. I had so many things to think about. After all this was my home page and had to represent me. So I spent the weekend drawing thumbnails and sketched out different patterns and images that could be my background. I wanted a something with a visual texture, bright and loud colors to get  your attention! Fun has to be a major part of this site, because I am FUN! So after it is all said and done, it should be a statement of me, my personality and my passion.

It occured to me while making the thumbnails that i didn't want to be another boring portfolio website, so I thought about incorporating my passion for NEON ART, since i wanted it to be bright I picked colors that are feminine and are found in most Neon - i have a start, so here is what my home page looks like as of now. I may change some things as my learning process continues.

Plan of Action.....

First things first, I need someway to figure out how to organize my site, so I made this site map to help me out and help the viewer navigate through my pages.

Since this is a PERSONAL site, I want to keep it REAL but yet may invite some Clients through my resume and by viewing my work.   I am getting all my copy from my own biographies written for various reasons, one is particular is a speech I gave in public speaking class about myself, all of the photos from my own personal albums and home computer, and the artwork is from the beginning of my schooling since I was a Visual Communication student at Delgado in City Park, New Orleans.

In the beginning....

I spent most of Monday Nov 8th, going through the achieves of the AIGA website and looking for inspiration, I saw many that appealed to me. I got some ideas of how i can go about designing my page but they all seemed complex. I don't feel that I'm confident enough at this stage to go with a complex design, after all I am still learning and self teaching. I am however confident of my work, so I feel that if I Just try and crate a simple yet visually cohesive site, that is easily navigable, then I can do my art justice. SO Here goes...
